Accidents that involve forklifts are slowly but surely reducing in numbers, but there is still a lot to be done to prevent more accidents from occurring. With the required and legal forklift training courses that are about today, and with the latest in technology, the number of accidents is significantly lower than what it was a few years ago.
More businesses today that use forklifts are taking more safety precautions and more companies are coming to Avantgarde Training to take up our courses. Just remember that if you’re a director or even a floor manager, then it is your responsibility to ensure that those operating the forklifts not only have the correct training, but have a full understanding of safety within the workplace. HSE revised the Approved Code of Practice L117 and made this a legal requirement earlier this year.
It only takes 10 minutes of your time to have a chat with your employees about the safety around the workplace and just 30 minutes to sit down with the forklift operators. This should be done on a regular basis. It is important to have safety posters around the workplace and guidelines in full view.
